Description

These seeds are from the known passion fruit cultivar ‘Bounty’. It is a purple fruit with exceptional flavor and sweetness. The plants are self fertile and do not require cross pollination with other clones. This cultivar was selected for its productivity and attractive fruit.

In our trials passion fruit plants perform better when grown from seed vs. cutting or air-layer, they are more vigorous and live longer. The average life span of a seedling grown passion fruit in our trials is 7 years. They start fruiting in the second year and produce the most abundant crops in the 3rd and 4th year.

Passion fruit is best grown on a trellis in full sun although plants can tolerate some shade. We have grown passion fruit on regular in-line trellises and pergola-type trellises both proving suitable. Plants appreciate abundant organic matter and irrigation while establishing and during dry months.
