Description

This is a Solo type papaya which originally came from Hawaii. We have been growing this variety for over 3 years. All our seeds come from hermaphrodite plants and all seedlings we have planted out have been hermaphrodites. This papaya fruit gets about 4″-7″. The flesh is bright orange to salmon colored. It is very fragrant and the flesh stays firm and has a nice bite to it even when the fruit is very ripe. The plants can grow to 15ft tall. We recommend the common practice of cutting it back to 4ft for better harvest and maintenance. Papayas grow best in a wind protected area that does not flood or gets waterlogged. They benefit from good drainage and additional organic matter. This is by far flavor wise our favorite papaya.
