Description
Seminole Pumpkins are grown as annual vegetables and can be reliable producers. This cucurbit is particularly suitable for Central and South Florida or humid climates. They produce small to medium sized pumpkins that taste delicious with flavor similar to butternut squash. These pumpkins have little pest pressure and are not affected by powdery mildew.
Seminole Pumpkins have been grown in Florida by the Creek, Calusa and Miccosukee people for many generations. Mature pumpkins can be stored for up to a year in optimal conditions due to their thick skin.
Commonly grown in full sun with plenty of room to spread, they thrive during spring, fall and our hot summer months. This particular variety has been grown in southwest Florida for several generations. We sow our seeds either early Spring February/March or later in summer July/August.
